Painting in the summer challenges an artist's ability to mix a variety of greens in an attempt to make the view (filled with an over abundance of greens) interesting. At the Pleasant Valley site there is a wonderful combination of open spaces, oak trees, and (gratefully) flowering plants. This little valley filled with purple flowers, rolls off surrounding hills spilling over with white 'daisies' and Queen Anne's Lace. Pushed against dark greens of distant woods make these little spots of white and purple laugh with defiance against a sea of green.
